Zoho CRM & Books Payment Gateway Integration — Razorpay & PayU
A payment link sent by email and a payment recorded by hand in two different systems is how 'has this customer paid' turns into a question nobody can answer quickly. Razorpay and PayU both connect into the Zoho ecosystem at two different points — a payment link from a CRM quote or Deal, and invoice collection in Zoho Books — and the two should be set up as one payment-to-cash flow, not two separate projects that happen to use the same gateway.
What Zoho already does
Native, but only one direction
Zoho Books has first-party Razorpay and PayU payment gateway support for invoice collection — switching one on is a configuration step, not a build. Zoho CRM's side is thinner: payment links can be generated and tracked against a Deal, but reconciling a CRM-side payment back against a Books invoice, or triggering a CRM stage change the moment a payment clears, is not something either native integration does for you end to end. That connective layer, between the CRM event and the Books record, is the custom part.
What a Razorpay & PayU Integration Fixes
- A quote marked won in the CRM with no link to whether the customer has actually paid
- Payment confirmations arriving by email or SMS that nobody enters against the right invoice
- Sales chasing a new order from a customer who has not settled the last one
- Finance reconciling gateway settlement reports against invoices by hand at month end
What We Build
Payment link generation from a CRM quote or Deal
A payment link through Razorpay or PayU generated directly from the CRM record at the point a quote is approved, rather than a separate step in a different system.
Books invoice collection configured correctly
The native Razorpay or PayU gateway switched on inside Zoho Books, with settlement account and fee handling set up so reconciliation matches what actually lands in the bank.
Payment status synced back to the CRM record
When a payment clears — on a CRM-generated link or against a Books invoice — the Deal or Account record reflects it, so sales can see paid status without asking finance.
Partial and recurring payment handling
Where a deal is paid in instalments or on a recurring basis, status on the CRM record reflects what has actually been collected against what was invoiced, not just whether the first payment happened.
Webhook-based reconciliation, not manual entry
Gateway webhooks drive the status update automatically, so reconciliation does not depend on someone checking a settlement report and updating records by hand.
How the Data Actually Moves
Every step names its direction, because "integrated" on its own tells you nothing about which system wins when the two disagree.
- 01
Quote is approved in CRM
A payment link is generated against the Deal, through Razorpay or PayU.
- 02
Invoice is raised in Books
Following the existing CRM-to-Books quote-to-invoice flow, with the same gateway enabled for collection.
- 03
Customer pays
Through the link or against the invoice directly, via the gateway's checkout flow.
- 04
Gateway webhook fires
Razorpay or PayU notifies Books, and where configured, the CRM-side listener, that payment has cleared.
- 05
Status updates everywhere it needs to
The Books invoice is marked paid and the CRM Deal or Account reflects it, without anyone re-entering the payment by hand.
What Goes Wrong With Razorpay & PayU Integrations
We sell this work, so treat the section accordingly — but an integration that breaks quietly six months in costs us more in support than the build ever earned. These are the failure modes worth knowing before you commission it.
CRM payment links and Books invoice collection are two separate switches
Enabling Razorpay on a CRM payment link does not automatically enable it on Books invoices, or vice versa — they are configured independently, with their own credentials and settlement settings inside each product. Treat them as two setup steps even though the end goal is one payment flow.
Gateway fees and settlement timing affect reconciliation, not just cash flow
Razorpay and PayU both deduct their fee before settlement, so the amount that lands in the bank is not the invoice total. If Books reconciliation is not configured to expect that gap, every gateway-collected invoice looks like a short payment rather than a normal one.
How long it takes
Native Books-side gateway setup is typically a matter of days. The CRM-to-Books payment status sync, where it is wanted, adds one to two weeks depending on how many payment states (partial, recurring, refunded) need to be reflected.
Integration work is quoted per scope rather than from a price list, because the same integration costs very different amounts depending on how clean the data behind it is. Discovery is free, and you get a fixed number before you commit to anything.
What we need from you
- An active Razorpay or PayU merchant account, settled and KYC-complete
- Zoho Books with the quote-to-invoice flow from Zoho CRM already in place
- A decision on which payment states (partial, recurring, refunded) need to show on the CRM record
Zoho CRM Integrations We Build
The systems Indian sales teams most often need joined to Zoho CRM, each with what Zoho already does for free and what actually has to be built.

Zoho CRM & Books Payment Gateway Integration — Razorpay & PayU — FAQs
Does Zoho Books support Razorpay and PayU natively?
Yes. Both are supported first-party payment gateways inside Zoho Books for invoice collection — enabling one is a configuration step with your merchant credentials, not a build. The work is in reconciliation settings and, if wanted, syncing that payment status back to Zoho CRM.
Can a payment link be sent straight from a Zoho CRM quote?
Yes, through either gateway's payment-link capability called from the CRM record. This is useful ahead of invoicing — a customer can pay against an approved quote before the formal invoice is even raised in Books.
Will the CRM show whether an invoice has been paid?
With the sync layer built, yes — the Deal or Account record reflects paid, partially paid or outstanding status based on the Books invoice and gateway webhook, so sales does not have to ask finance.
Should we set this up on Zoho CRM, Zoho Books, or both?
Both, as one project rather than two. Payment collection at the quote stage lives in CRM; invoice reconciliation lives in Books; the two should agree with each other, which is why we scope CRM payment links and Books gateway configuration together rather than treating them as separate requests.
Does this handle partial or recurring payments?
It can, if scoped for it up front. Both gateways support partial and recurring collection, but reflecting that accurately on the CRM record — rather than a simple paid or unpaid flag — is additional configuration, worth deciding on before build rather than after.
