Zoho CRM and Google Ads Integration
Google Ads knows which click produced a form submission. It has no idea which click produced a paying customer, so it keeps buying more of whatever fills in forms. Offline conversion import closes that loop — and it lives or dies on whether you captured the GCLID when the visitor first arrived.
What Zoho already does
Native, but only one direction
Zoho CRM ships a Google Ads integration that links ad spend to CRM records and supports uploading offline conversions. The connector is genuinely capable. What it cannot do is capture the GCLID on your website forms in the first place — and without that identifier stored on the lead, there is nothing to upload against. That capture step sits on your site, not in Zoho, and it is the piece almost every stalled setup is missing.
What a Google Ads Integration Fixes
- Smart Bidding optimising towards cheap form fills that never buy
- Cost per lead reported by campaign, with no view of cost per closed customer
- Long B2B sales cycles where the deal closes months after the click, far outside any pixel's memory
- Sales and marketing arguing about lead quality with no shared data to settle it
What We Build
GCLID capture on your forms
The Google click identifier read from the landing URL, persisted across the session, and written into a hidden field so it arrives on the CRM record with the enquiry. Without this step nothing else in this list can work.
Lead form extension sync
Leads submitted directly in Google's search results through lead form extensions pulled into Zoho CRM, mapped and deduplicated alongside website enquiries.
Offline conversion upload
When a deal reaches qualification or closes won, the stored GCLID and the deal value are uploaded to Google Ads as an offline conversion, dated to the actual conversion moment.
Conversion action configuration
Separate conversion actions for qualification and for won revenue, with sensible value and counting settings, so bidding can be pointed at whichever stage you actually want more of.
Closed-loop reporting
CRM dashboards showing pipeline and won revenue by campaign and keyword, reconciled against Google Ads spend.
How the Data Actually Moves
Every step names its direction, because "integrated" on its own tells you nothing about which system wins when the two disagree.
- 01
Visitor clicks an ad
Google appends a GCLID to the landing page URL.
- 02
GCLID is captured and stored
Read from the URL, held across the session, and submitted with the enquiry form into a CRM field.
- 03
Sales works the deal
Over days or months. The GCLID stays on the record throughout, which is the whole point.
- 04
Deal is qualified or won
A workflow fires on the stage change and queues an offline conversion upload with the deal value.
- 05
Google Ads learns
Smart Bidding can now optimise towards clicks that resemble the ones that produced revenue.
What Goes Wrong With Google Ads Integrations
We sell this work, so treat the section accordingly — but an integration that breaks quietly six months in costs us more in support than the build ever earned. These are the failure modes worth knowing before you commission it.
No GCLID, no integration
This is the whole game. If your forms do not capture and store the click identifier, offline conversion import has nothing to match against and the entire setup is inert. It is a change to your website, not to Zoho, and it is why most attempts at this stall before they start.
Google enforces an upload window
Offline conversions must be uploaded within a limited period after the original click, and very long B2B sales cycles can exceed it. If your deals routinely take longer than the window, upload a qualification event inside it rather than waiting for the win — a mid-funnel signal that arrives beats a revenue signal that is rejected.
Consent Mode changes what you are allowed to send
If you operate in markets where consent signals govern ad measurement, uploading conversions for users who did not consent is not something to do casually. Confirm your position before switching uploads on, particularly if you advertise into the EU or UK as well as India.
Smart Bidding needs volume before it changes anything
Feeding back thirty won deals a year will not retrain a bidding algorithm. Below roughly a few dozen conversions a month, the honest answer is that this integration gives you excellent reporting and very little optimisation, and it is worth knowing that before you pay for it.
How long it takes
One to two weeks where the website forms are ours to change or straightforward to modify. Longer where GCLID capture has to be retrofitted across several landing pages or a third-party form tool.
Integration work is quoted per scope rather than from a price list, because the same integration costs very different amounts depending on how clean the data behind it is. Discovery is free, and you get a fixed number before you commit to anything.
What we need from you
- Admin access to the Google Ads account
- The ability to modify your website's forms and landing pages to capture the GCLID
- Auto-tagging enabled in Google Ads
- Agreement on which CRM stage counts as the conversion being optimised towards
Zoho CRM and Google Ads Integration — FAQs
What is offline conversion tracking in Google Ads?
It is the mechanism for telling Google Ads that a click it sent you eventually turned into revenue, days or months later. The click identifier captured at the time is stored against the CRM record, and when the deal closes, that identifier and the deal value are uploaded back to Google Ads. Bidding can then optimise towards clicks that produce customers rather than clicks that produce form submissions.
What is a GCLID and why does it matter so much?
The Google Click Identifier is a parameter Google appends to your landing page URL when someone arrives from an ad. It is the only link between a specific ad click and whatever that person later does in your business. If it is not captured on the enquiry form and stored on the CRM record, there is nothing to upload conversions against — which is why capturing it is the first thing we build, not the last.
Our sales cycle is six months. Will this still work?
Partly, and it is worth being clear about the limit. Google only accepts offline conversions uploaded within a bounded period after the click, and a six-month cycle can run past it. The practical approach is to upload a qualification event that occurs early enough to be accepted, rather than waiting for the closed-won event and having it rejected.
Does Zoho CRM have a built-in Google Ads integration?
Yes. Zoho CRM includes a Google Ads integration that connects ad spend to CRM records and supports offline conversion upload, so the CRM side of this is largely configuration. The part that is genuinely custom is capturing the GCLID on your own website forms, because that happens before Zoho is involved at all.
Will this reduce our cost per acquisition?
It can, but only if you have the conversion volume for Smart Bidding to learn from — realistically a few dozen conversions a month at minimum. Below that, what you reliably get is much better reporting on which campaigns produce revenue, which is valuable in itself but is a decision-support tool rather than an automatic optimisation.
Can we import leads from Google lead form extensions too?
Yes. Leads submitted directly in the search results through lead form extensions can flow into Zoho CRM on the same path as website enquiries, mapped and deduplicated together, with the source recorded so you can report on the two separately.
